Company is preparing for accelerated national growth following response to the Cures Act and POTUS Executive Order impacting healthcare payors, providers and patients.
August 14, 2019— TAMPA, FL— Healthmap Solutions, a rapidly growing national Kidney Health Management (KHM) company, announced today the appointment of Thomas P. Gaffney Jr. to the newly created position of Chief Growth Officer. Gaffney is a nationally recognized healthcare executive with more than 25 years of experience building and leading organizations that change traditional methods of high-cost, lower-quality healthcare services. As Chief Growth Officer at Healthmap Solutions, Gaffney will lead growth strategy, client relationships, and sales and marketing, while also helping to ensure program development meets the expectations and needs of payors, providers and patients.
An industry trailblazer, in 2006 Gaffney founded Sleep Management Solutions (SMS), the first Sleep Benefits Management (SBM) company in the country and effectively created the Sleep Benefits Management healthcare space. Before joining Healthmap Solutions, Gaffney was the Chief Customer Officer at CareCentrix, where he managed the company’s client portfolio and Account Management functions.
“Tom’s exceptional ability to see untapped opportunity and marshal resources to fully capitalize on it for payors, patients and providers represents a tremendous advantage to Healthmap Solutions as we prepare for considerable growth in our business,” said Joe Vattamattam, Chief Executive Officer of Healthmap Solutions. “He has a track record of success in forging long-term client relationships because he keenly understands and anticipates client needs and aligns the internal strengths and resources of an organization to meet them. He’s an industry visionary and inspirational leader and we look forward to him assuming the helm of our sales, marketing and account management teams who share his commitment to improving the health and better managing the costs of caring for patients living with kidney disease.”
Vattamattam explained that Gaffney is an integral addition to the leadership team, particularly with the two major initiatives that are changing the Kidney Health sector right now. Both initiatives are aimed at helping the 37 million Americans with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and the more than 726,000 with irreversible End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) who need dialysis or a kidney transplant to survive.
The first is the 21st Century CURES Act, which will allow patients suffering from End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) to choose Medicare Advantage plans. That will bring more coordinated care, lower out-of-pocket costs for patients, improved healthcare outcomes and lower overall costs. The program takes effect in 2021, but Healthmap Solutions payor clients are already preparing for needed changes in transplant and dialysis policies (in-center versus in-home), how to support providers and the best ways to help ensure a positive overall patient experience.
The second happened just last month with the President of the United States signing an Executive Order named “Advancing American Kidney Health” to promote Kidney Health, in-home dialysis or transplants and more available kidneys to support transplant programs, all of which are supported by potential changes in government payment models.
“This is an exciting and important time to be in the Kidney Health sector,” Gaffney said. “Healthmap Solutions is a company whose innovative thinking truly sets us apart and makes us an ideal partner in the increasingly challenging pursuit of low-cost, high-quality effective care for those facing progressive kidney disease. I am thrilled to be joining a team that is bringing the kind of meaningful change that drives improved quality of care to patients, supports providers in practicing best-in-class, lower-cost medicine and reduces spend and trend for payors.”
