HEALTHMAP SOLUTIONS PRESIDENT AND COO ANDREW WALL APPOINTED TO NATIONAL KIDNEY FOUNDATION OF FLORIDA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Wall joins as federal action on kidney health is set to transform access to care and expand treatment options for millions of Americans
TAMPA, FL—Healthmap Solutions co-founder, president and chief operating officer Andrew Wall has been named to the National Kidney Foundation of Florida (NKFF) Board of Directors. The NKFF is Florida’s leading nonprofit health organization dedicated to preventative kidney health and improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by kidney disease. Wall joins the NKFF board as a transformation is underway in the U.S. healthcare system in how people at risk of kidney disease are identified earlier, and how and where those already battling the disease are treated and by whom.
Two groundbreaking initiatives will chart a new course for kidney health and the lives of 37 million Americans living with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the more than 726,000 with irreversible end-stage renal disease (ESRD) who need dialysis or a kidney transplant to survive:
1. Under the 21st Century CURES Act, which takes effect in 2021, patients suffering from ESRD will be allowed to choose Medicare Advantage plans. That will bring more coordinated care, lower out-of-pocket costs for patients, improved healthcare outcomes and lower overall costs.
2. Just last month the President of the United States signed an executive order called "Advancing American Kidney Health" to promote kidney health, in-home dialysis, transplants, and improved availability of kidneys to support transplant programs, all of which are supported by potential changes in government payment models.
"The entire kidney healthcare sector is at a watershed moment," said Savanna Lanza, Chief Executive Officer, for the NKFF. "Drew's leadership and experience in driving innovation, improving quality of care and lowering costs will be invaluable as we advance our advocacy on behalf of patients living with chronic kidney disease.”
At Healthmap Solutions, Wall is responsible for population health and technology-enabled services as well as company operations. Wall brings years of diverse healthcare and technology industry experience with McKesson, Kaiser Permanente, Deloitte Consulting and Workday, having created innovative technology solutions for health plans, hospital systems, providers and medical device manufacturers, including a first-of-its-kind health information exchange.
“It is an honor to join the distinguished board of the NKFF, an organization that is a leader in advocating and educating on behalf of patients, their families, providers and payors about prevention, early detection and effective treatment options,” Wall said. “With rapid change happening right now in the management of chronic kidney disease, the work of the NKFF is even more critically important and I look forward to being a part of their advocacy and education efforts.”
