For patients, the diagnosis of chronic kidney disease represents the start of a difficult journey. Part I of this two-part series offers a guide to the next steps a newly diagnosed patient should take.

This article, the first in a two-part series, was written as a guide for newly diagnosed CKD patients to help them take the next steps on this new journey. Based on the experience of Healthmap’s Chief Medical Officer, Howard Shaps, MD, MBA, and our Corporate Medical Director and nephrologist, Stephanie Toth-Manikowski, MD, MHS, it will help ensure that patients are ready to engage in managing and slowing the progression of their disease.
