According to the Centers for Disease Control, 37 million people in the U.S. have chronic kidney disease (CKD), and 90% live unaware of their condition. Most first learn of their condition when their kidneys fail and they “crash” into dialysis in a hospital emergency room. In 2018, more than 131,000 people were newly diagnosed with end-stage renal disease (ESRD).
